Locking a gradient or bitmap image creates the effect of scaling a gradient or bitmap as if it filled the entire Stage and that the shapes it fills are masks revealing the underlying gradient or fill. Painting with a locked fill has the effect of uncovering the fill.
Use locked fills to make it appear that a single gradient or bitmap fill extends across multiple objects.
The upper and lower boxes are filled with the same locked gradient.
To use a locked gradient or bitmap fill:
1 | Select the brush or paint bucket tools and choose a gradient or bitmap as fill. |
To use a bitmap as fill, break the bitmap apart and use the dropper tool to select a bitmap before selecting the brush or paint bucket tools. See Painting with a bitmap's image. | |
2 | Click the Lock Fill modifier.
